About iptsi Match
iptsi Match is a match-three puzzle on an eight-by-eight board. Tap a gem and then tap a neighbour to swap them. If the swap lines up three or more of the same colour in a row or a column, they clear, the gems above fall into the gap, and new ones drop in from the top. If the swap produces no line, it is refused and the board is left exactly as it was.
The interesting part is what happens after the first clear. Falling gems can line up new rows on their own, and each chain in a single move is worth more than the last, so a considered swap is worth several times a careless one. You have thirty moves and no clock, which turns the game into a planning problem rather than a reaction test.
How to play
- Tap a gem to select it, then tap one of the four neighbours to swap the pair.
- Three or more of the same colour in a row or column clear. Nothing happens to a swap that creates no line.
- Cleared gems score, and each additional chain inside the same move multiplies the value.
- The run ends when your thirty moves are used up.
How it was built
The board is a flat array and every operation is a small transform on rows, columns and runs. It is drawn on a single canvas with rounded rectangles, so the game is a single HTML file with no images, no fonts to fetch and no dependencies.
The starting board is generated and then re-rolled until it contains no ready-made lines, so you never open with free points. That has to be done with a guard on the loop, because a board that repeatedly generates matches is unlikely but perfectly possible.
Why it is free
iptsi builds these games in-house and owns them outright, so nothing here is licensed from anyone else. They are here to be played, and to show the kind of title that suits the open web: instant, offline, and readable on a small screen. There is no account, no download and no advertising on this page, and your best score stays in your own browser.
