About iptsi Words
iptsi Words is an anagram game. A word is chosen, its letters are shuffled, and you tap them back into the slots in the right order. Fill every slot correctly and you score, then a new word appears. Complete a wrong word and you lose one of your three lives.
Because the letters are the only material you have, the game is really about recognising the shape of a word from a set of letters rather than about vocabulary. That makes the short words harder than they look: with four letters there are only so many arrangements, and the wrong ones are tempting.
How to play
- Tap a letter tile to place it in the next empty slot.
- Tap anywhere on the answer row to take the last letter back.
- When every slot is full the word is checked. Correct scores and loads a new word; wrong costs a life and clears the row.
- Three wrong words ends the run.
How it was built
The tiles, slots and letters are drawn at runtime on one canvas, so the game ships with no image files at all, and the few sounds are generated with the Web Audio API rather than loaded. The word list is a small built-in set of common English words โ no dictionary is downloaded and no request leaves the page.
The letters are shuffled with a Fisher-Yates shuffle, and the game re-rolls if the shuffle happens to leave the word already spelled, so you are never handed a free point. Repeats are also avoided, so you do not get the same word twice in a row.
Why it is free
iptsi builds these games in-house and owns them outright, so nothing here is licensed from anybody. They are here to be played, and to show what works in the open web: instant, offline, and readable on a small screen. There is no account, no download and no advertising on this page, and your best score stays in your browser.
